German Weight Set, 60's-70's

Interesting set of weighs for precision balance scale in its original solid wooden case. This set comes from Germany and was made in the 1960-70s. The set is complete and keeps all its original pieces perfectly disposed in their respective compartments. As well as the weighs the set also includes a series of small plates with milligram weighs designed to obtain the most precise measurement. The article comes with a pair of beautiful silvery metal tongs with white bakelite ends. The tongs are designed to manipulate the small plates without fearing to lose them.The set is composed of twelve weighs. The biggest and heaviest ones are made of brass-covered lead. The heavier metal can be see through the circular hole in the brass covering, located at the top of each piece. The lead shows an embossed parchment-shaped logo with some letters inside. The number of grams is engraved in the brass covering, also at the top of each piece. Both the weighs and the tongs can be stored in the compartments drilled in the boxs solid wood. The tongs, as stated before, are really good-looking and are in amazing condition.On the left side of the box we can see three circular compartments covered by a glass lid that has a metal knob. These holes contain the milligram plates designed to complete each measurement. These plates are of different shapes (square, triangular and hexagonal) and are also well preserved. The box is made of solid beech wood and boasts nice dovetail joints. The lid is covered inside by green felt. At the front of the case we can see a yellow sticker with the printed name and address of the original distributor: K. JEHN 9001 KARL MARX STADT POSTFACH 845. Under this inscription there is also a brief German description of the article.This set of weighs is a delicate and exclusive piece, in excellent condition and with all the charm of authentic vintage articles.Measurements (case): Width: 19,5 cm.
