This descriptive anatomical torso model, complete and in excellent condition, is a first-quality piece made by one of the most renowned companies in the field of anatomical, zoological and botanical models: the German company Somso. It dates from the 1970s and is made of plastic material, strong and durable. The model reproduces a male torso with a detachable front part; inside we can see different removable plastic models of the inner organs. All these pieces are numbered and marked so they can be identified easily. At the models base we can see a logo with the companys name, SOMSO, and the logo that the brand has adopted for decades. The firm was founded in 1876, when Marcus Sommer Senior opened the first factory in Thuringia, Germany. There he started to make technical models in papier- mâché. In 1895 Fritz Sommer inherited his fathers business and in 1929 the modeller Max Doehler enters the company. During 52 years the range of anatomical, zoological and botanical models of the brand extended and improved in a spectacular way. In 1999 the Deutsches Museum of Munich opened a great exhibition about the history of the firm, and in 2001 the Somso Museum opened its doors in the first factory building located in Sonneberg, Thuringia. This attractive and complete torso model is a good example of the quality that characterizes Somso products. It is full of details, with well proportioned pieces and a great reproduction of colors and textures. They fit perfectly to one another and are in excellent condition: this model is not only a decorative or collectors item but could perfectly be used for the study of human male anatomy. Its quality and good condition turn it into an exclusive piece, worthy of a museum or a university. Perfect to decorate a doctors office or a professors study, this anatomical model is a real find for any self-respected collector. Measurements: Width: 8.2 in/21 cm. Height: 20 in/51 cm.
