This article is an advertising stethoscope, a medical tool made at the turn of the 19th century. Though it is an ancient piece more than one hundred years old, the stethoscope is in excellent condition. It is made of solid ebony wood, with a rich deep black color and a soft satin finish that protect its surface. The article is composed of two parts: a long funnel-shaped stem where the doctor would apply his or her ear and a circular base designed to be put against the patients chest. This circular piece, which unscrews from the stem for easy carrying, bears the engraved word THEOSALVOSE. Very special and well preserved, this stethoscope deserves an honor place in a good collection of medical antiques. Measurements: Width: 1.9 in / 5 cm. Height: 6.2 in / 16 cm.
