This singular piece is a pair of ear trumpet disposed as headphones, made in Germany in the 1950s. It is a rare and ingenious article whose design is highly remarkable. The symmetrical ear trumpets are located at both ends of a flexible metal arch designed to fit over the users head so he or she can easily wear the ear trumpets. The device is in very good condition and working order: it is a real collectors piece, a quite interesting item for any lover of singular objects. There is an small loss of 2 milimeters in one corner. Please scroll down the description to see all the pictures. The ear trumpets are made of bakelite with a nice reddish brown color and translucent quality. The material looks like faux tortoise shell. Each ear trumpet has a triangular piece with the front side covered by a grid. This element is actually a sound amplifier: inside remains the mechanism that increases the sound volume. The component parts can be perceived through the translucent plastic. From the bottom of each amplifier emerges the ear trumpet itself, a narrow curved piece designed to fit into the users ear. One of the amplifiers shows a small circular mark embossed in the plastic case. The mark shows the following inscription: DGM Angem Ges Gesch. The other ear trumpet has another German mark that reads Rochhausen Waldkirchen /Erzgeb. These words indicate that the ear trumpets were manufactured by Rochhausen Hörgeräte-Akustik Inh, a company located in Waldkirchen, Germany. The firm, founded by Martin Rochhausen, is still producing hearing-aid instruments. These faux tortoise Shell ear trumpets are a very special article in great condition a real find for a collector of curious pieces. Measurements: 4.3 in /11.35 cm.
