Antique demountable stethoscope. This tool was made in the 19th century and has survived to our days in good condition. It is made of bakelite, a kind of plastic resin, and the trace of time and use have only left a slight sign of wear in the tool: there is a small dent in the connection between the base and the rod. Nevertheless, this detail does not prevent them to assemble perfectly. The stethoscope is composed of two parts: the circular base, whose wider surface shows a darker tone, and the rod that can be screwed in it. This tool is easy to manipulate: when both parts are connected, the base must be put against the patients chest. Then, the doctor will press his or her ear to the rods end and listen to the sounds. This stethoscope is a charming antique that any lover of special objects will surely appreciate. Measurements: Width: 2.3 in / 6 cm. Length: 7.4 in / 19 cm.
