Beautiful Antique Stethoscope in Silver Plated Metal and Bakelite. XIX Century

This gorgeous utensil is an antique demountable stethoscope. This is a professional medical tool composed of two parts that connect with each other. On one side we can see a silvery metal rod, one of whose ends is trimmed by a conical metal piece designed to put against the ear and listen to the sounds that come from the patients chest. The other end must be inserted into the top hole of a silvery metal sphere connected to a black bakelite circular piece. This piece is designed to be put against the patients chest. The metal sphere has two more holes, one at each side: when not in use, the rod can be inserted through them so the stethoscope is easier to carry or store. This article is in excellent condition, being a fine piece with an undeniable quality. This metal and bakelite stethoscope is the perfect piece to complete a good collection of medical antiques.
