Extraordinary precision scale, manufactured in England at the end of the 19th century or until 1902. Of great presence, robustness and enviable state of conservation, this is a huge scale manufactured in Birmingham (municipal district of Derby) in the year 1902 by the brand W&T AVERY LTD. The manufacturing company started its business at the beginning of the 18th century, in 1818. The prestige and historical weight of W & T Avery makes that its history and development is documented in The National Archives of the United Kingdom. Since 1917 the firm has owned a private museum, The Avery Historical Museum, probably the world's finest collection of weighing machinery and artifacts from the last six thousand years, beginning in ancient Egypt. The scale is in superb condition. The cross shows engravings on both sides with the manufacturer's references, its location and the capacity of the artifact. In addition, the cymbals are contrasted over successive years by the authorities in charge of controlling the scales. The whole set rests on a wooden base, which serves as a protective case for transport once disassembled. The scale is huge. Measurements: 88.5 cms (height), 71.5 cms (width), 30.5 cms (depth).
