Fantastic Vapo Cresolene Medical Vaporizer Lamp. 1880-1900. It is composed of a decorative gilt metal base with intertwined plant forms that continue along the arm that supports the saucer where the liquid is placed. The lower part resembles a simple quinque with regulator, in charge of emitting the heat to the upper part. It is in perfect condition, with the original lacquer, and looks practically new. Attached is the original box, which undoubtedly makes this piece even more valuable. This original medical device was used since the end of the century to destroy germs. In the upper plate of the lamp was placed a liquid called Cresolene that, by means of heat, gave off a vapor that cleaned the room of possible germs purifying the environment. It was used for illnesses such as coughs and bronchitis. The Vap Cresolene Brand sold this type of lamp in the United States from 1880 to 1900. It was advertised as a real cure for respiratory diseases although the liquid used is really dangerous in large quantities. A very special piece of great originality, for collectors who love science.
