Electrotherapy apparatus manufactured by E. Kraus in Berlin around 1900. It presents a mahogany wooden box where the battery and the regulators, current potentiometers and switches are located in an orderly manner on the inside. They have obvious signs of use, although they do not detract one iota of beauty to this type of pieces, as it is common for them to be used assiduously. With a little cleaning and a good oiling of the brass parts, it would be as good as new. On the outside it has different levers and openings necessary to operate the device. The box is in very good condition, with hardly any scratches, with a top handle that allows its transport and with the original key! It is a completely genuine piece, with all its original parts and in very good condition. It has a small golden plate with the name of the manufacturer on the inside of the upper lid: E.KRAUS, BERLIN.With this type of objects we realize the limitations they had in terms of the material that the antique doctors could have at their disposal to carry out their work. In this type of objects we have to take into account that wear and tear is common, since they have been used to carry out scientific studies capable of providing new data on the diseases that had to be fought in each historical moment.Portable electrotherapy devices began to be manufactured in England during the 19th century. Thanks to its mechanism, a high-frequency electric current of relative frequency applicable to the human body is generated by means of an active electrode and a passive electrode. Through a series of physical stimuli produced by the electric current, a physiological response is triggered in the human body, which will translate into a therapeutic effect.Magnificent piece for collectors of very demanding medical devices.Measures: 22 x 30 x 22 cm (closed).
