Interesting and curious set of samples with different roots, seeds and plants. This set was used by pharmacy teachers in university. It is a complete collection which dates from the 1950s. It seemed to be used to prepare an examination to become a chemists assistant. This is a charming piece, full of history, which is also in good condition. The inscriptions which appear on the boxes, and the text on the paper sheet which comes with the set, are all written in Dutch. The collection has more than ninety different species, with a whole lot of seeds, plants, dry leaves and roots. Some of them are quite common, such as aloe, chamomile or agar-agar; but there are also some uncommon species. The excellent condition of these pieces lets us read easily the inscriptions on the boxes covers, printed in orange letters. Each cover bears a logo and a Dutch inscription, which also appears on the sheet of paper: brocades acf groothandel nv maarssen. It is the name of the chemist brand which made this set (Brocades-ACF. Groothandel N.V.), and the city where it is located (Maarssen). If we turn each box upside down we will see again the logo and the inscription. Over them there is a label with the number of the sample and the species Latin name. All the boxes contain a good amount of each plant or root, which increases the interest and the charm of this magnificent collection, designed to study and teach. It is a scientific piece with a long history before, whose value joins with its undeniable charm to turn it into an exceptional item.
