Fine antique portable medical surgery set dated circa 1880. This delicate item consists on a wooden storing case containing a series of instruments used for ambulatory or campaign surgery, all of them original from the period. The case is made of solid mahogany wood and is in surprisingly good condition: the wood shows no cracks or broken parts, with a smooth surface and a lovely dark shade. The original finish shows some signs of the trace of time and use that provide the piece with a great patina. Embedded at the center of the lid we can see an non-engraved shield-shaped plate. Inside the case is covered of dark red velvet. Inside the lid mounts a removable cover that hides a set of curved knives and a needle. The box contains a removable tray with scalpels and hooks. The instruments are made of steel and mount bone handles, being all of them finely preserved. Original and good looking, this antique portable medical surgery set preserves all the charm of the medical items made in the 19th century. Measurements: Width: 4.28 in / 21 cm Depth: 8.4 in / 10.7 cm
