Amazing antique portable Maw, Son & Thompson surgery set for forensic doctors. This striking piece was made in England circa 1880, and though it is more than one hundred year old it has survived to our days complete and in really good condition. The storing case is made of solid mahogany wood, with green-velvet-covered inner compartments. Inside we find a complete steel surgery tool set which includes a clip handle: when pressed, the spring makes it possible to remove the blade in order to mount another one or the amputation saw. The tool set also includes different clips and tweezers, a hammer, scalpels and a pack of suture needles. The case bears an embedded plate with the manufacturing companys name: MAW SON & THOMPSON LONDON. The paper where the needles are wrapped in bears a label with the companys name and the inscription POST-MORTEM, indicating they are for forensic use. The brand name is also engraved in the tools. The wooden case is finely preserved and keeps the original lock and key set in working order.
