Couple of Antique Stethoscopes. Circa 1930

Couple of antique stethoscopes made circa 1930, truly original from the time and in fine condition. These fascinating tools were used to listen the patients chest in the first 3rd of the 20th century and still preserve their functional quality. One of them is made of solid-beech wood and the other is made of Bakelite. The wooden stethoscope preserves the original finish, a soft and satin-looking lacquer which protects the surface and provides it with a lovely glow. The Bakelite stethoscope shows a fine dark color, between maroon and black; it is bigger than the wooden one. Both have detachable chestpieces which can be unscrewed in order to carry and store them easily. The Bakelite stethoscope bears an identifying sticker at the chestpiece with a French handwritten inscription. It probably belonged once to a collection of medical antiques. This amazing couple of antique stethoscopes made in the early 20th century deserves a honor place in a showcase with ancient medical tools.
