Original portable medical case with various products, made in London, England in the late 19th century. The case is made of solid mahogany wood and has two doors which open to show a compartmented inside, with two drawers at the bottom. The set of medicines is complete, and almost all of the bottles contain rests of the products. At the wooden base we can see a signature: it is an inscription with the words THOMSON LONDON. The outside is in very good condition, and the doors boast the nice flame-shaped veneer which is typical of mahogany wood. At the top the case keeps the original brass handle attached to a plate made of the same material that is embedded in the wood. The doors also have brass keyholes. Once open, the case shows its contents in perfect order. The wooden planks edges are painted black and they make a beautiful contrast with the red wood. The only part of the case which is not made of mahogany wood is the base, which seems to have been made of walnut wood. Inside each door we can find six glass bottles in their respective compartments, while the central body contains four more bottles at the top. These bottles are bigger in size. The drawers contain some smaller bottles with pills, different products and some utensils too. All the flasks bear labels, some of them printed, some typed and some hand-written; inside we can even find homeopathic products. This medical case is a faithful testimony of medical practices in the late 19th century, and is undoubtedly a real collectors item. Measurements:220 mm width x 300 mm height.
