German Dentist's Lathe, Circa 1930. In Good Condition and working order.

Original electric dental lathe from the 1930s. It is a German device made by Kaltenbach & Voigt brand. This lathe is model 612B and is an electrically powered instrument: it can be plugged to a 230V electrical wiring. This lathe is a rare medical device with a highly remarkable artisanal look; it works perfectly, just as the day it was originally made, especially if we consider the years that have passed by and the hours of use it has behind. The black-lacquered iron it is made of is slightly worn in some places and the silvery metal pieces are somewhat rusted, but in general the article is in good condition and works perfectly.This kind of devices is powered and the user must step on the pedal to start the motor. This motor generates a spinning movement which passes to the thread that makes the lathe work. The lathe comes with different accessories. As a side note, the dentist used to put a piece of cotton attached to the thread and when it started moving, the doctor would tell his patient to look at it as if he or she were following the rabbit. This was intended to take the patients mind off the unpleasant moment.On the lathes base there is a metal plate with various data about the lathe: the serial number (1817), the motors type and power (703C-40W) and the voltage, 230V. Kaltenbach & Voigt dental equipment manufacturing branch is currently known as KaVo and was founded in Berlin by Alois Kaltenbach under the motto Quality and precision. In 1919 Richard Voigt enters the firm as a partner and the name KaVo enters the business register. In 1928 KaVo launches the first piece which can be sterilized in the world, and afterwards the firm commercialized a lot of innovations that turned it into a leading brand in its field.This dental lathe is a really interesting vintage piece which will surely satisfy the best collector of antique and charming medical pieces.Measurements: Height: 1390 mm.
