This amazing piece is a vintage microscope made in 1920 by Otto Seibert Wetzlar from Germany. It is a fully original item, complete and protected by its wooden case. The microscope works perfectly and is in an almost flawless condition. The only sign of the trace of time and use is a slight sign of wear located in the turret, just by one of the adjusting screws (photo 39). Otherwise the instrument looks as beautiful and functional as when it was made, and preserves all its original component parts. The microscope is composed of a shiny black-enameled metal body and brass and silvery metal mobile parts. It has four-lens revolving nosepiece, all of them manufactured by Otto Seibert Wetzlar, a very relevant name in the field of optic material manufacture. This German company is still working under the name Seibert Otto Wetzlar GmbH & Co.KG. The brand name is printed on a label located inside the cases door, and is also engraved in the lenses. This wonderful instrument and its accessories come, as stated before, in its original solid wooden case. The wood boasts a nice light color and the planks that form the case are assembled with fine and slim dovetail joints. The case keeps the original lock and key in perfect working order. Inside it contains several wooden mobile parts: a piece that holds the microscopes base, two structures for the eyepieces and lenses metal cases and a box with sliding lid designed to store cleansing material and other accessories.Very complete and highly beautiful, this microscope from the 1920s is a piece worthy of a museum of science-related antiques.Measurements: Width: 19 cm.
