Amazing big-size microscope made in Germany in the 1910s (circa 1915). It is an exceptional piece, both because of its excellent condition and working order, and the complete set of accessories that comes with it. The transparent lacquer that protects the polished brass is the original one and its great condition draws our attention: it only shows very slight signs of the trace of time in concrete points that do not reach the metal. This detail does not interfere at all with the instruments operation or its impressive look; indeed, it is a nice sign of the items ancient age and authenticity. The microscope has a black iron base and a top part composed of polished brass mobile parts. This instrument was manufactured by Busch, a company founded by Hans Busch (1884-1873), a German physicist who is considered the father of the electron microscope. The turret bears the name BUSCH engraved in the metal, and just below rest the word Rathenow and the serial number 13778. Rathenow is a German city with a great tradition of microscope manufacturing. This industry began in the late 1700s and remains active nowadays. After World War II the East Germany government took over the factory and it merged into a public company that changed its name several name. The factory supplied the supplied the East German Carl Zeiss Jena company for about 30 years. The microscope has a three-lens revolving nosepiece, all of them signed by Busch with the smart logo of the firm. It keeps all the original component parts in excellent working order and it is a real pleasure to work with this instrument. The article comes with a complete set of accessories, including lenses with brass sleeves and eyepieces. All of them come into the original box, made of nice solid oak wood and in impeccable condition. The box keeps the original lock and key. Inside the case there is a printed paper sheet with information about the eyepieces and a handwritten sheet with details about the lenses and the magnification.
