This great microscope from the early 20th century (circa 1910) is a precision instrument made by Henry Crouch of London (England). It is a real museum piece, a wonderful polished brass device with black-enameled iron foot. The microscope is in good condition, in spite of being around one hundred years old, and works perfectly. This item comes in its original wooden case, also in great condition and with the lock and the key working fine. The device comes with some lenses and eyepieces in their brass sleeves, well organized in the compartments of a wooden piece attached to the inside of the box. At the front of the iron foot we can see an engraved inscription that reads HENRY CROUCH LONDON 7608. Henry Crouch was a well-known English microscope manufacturer whose instruments are famous for their quality and prestige. The one we can see in these images has survived to our days in great condition and still bears the original transparent finish that protects and embellished the brass surface. All its component parts are original and the mobile pieces provide a fluid and soft operation. The microscope can be used to view samples perfectly, just like when it was first sold. The case where the instrument and the accessories are stored is made of solid mahogany wooden planks, strong and beautiful. The brass hinges that connect the door and the box are also original and well preserved, just like the lock and the key. The wood boasts the fine dark red color typical of mahogany pieces, and though the case shows some signs of the trace of time they are surely part of this fascinating microscopes past life. On the other hand, they are just slight details that can be easily restored by a good professional. This beautiful Henry Crouch microscope is a high-quality scientific antique, a piece worthy of the best museum.Measurements: Width: 15.5 in/32 cm.
