Amazing vintage microscope made in the 1920s by the prestigious company founded by Carl Zeiss in Germany, in the first half of the 19th century. The microscope is in good condition and works fine. It comes in its original solid wooden case and is accompanied by extra eyepieces and sleeves to protect the lenses. It is signed in different places and can be used to watch samples. All its component parts are original from the twenties. The brass turret bears the companys name (CARL ZEISS) and of the city where it was located (JENA) engraved in the metal, just over the serial number Nr. 86388. Carl Zeiss was a German maker of optical instruments born in Germany in 1816. He became famous because of the factory he founded under the name Carl Zeiss Jena. This factory is still working as Carl Zeiss AG for the manufacture of optical scopes and binoculars. The Zeiss name is associated to great innovations in the field of optics. Carl Zeiss became specially noted in the 1840s, when he launched a series of high-quality lenses that provided vivid and bright images. Zeiss died in 1883 but his company kept on during the 1900s and until today. This beautiful microscope boasts a nice design typical of the instruments made in the early 20th century. It has a bird-claw foot stand (also known as horseshoe stand), enameled in black lacquer and in very good condition. The brass component parts are also well preserved and keep the original transparent lacquer. The four-lens revolving nosepiece mounts that number of lenses, each one signed with the manufacturers name and its own serial number. The original case, on the other hand, is made of light-colored solid wood with nice dovetail joints. It keeps the original metal handle and also the lock and key in working order. This striking Carl Zeiss Jena microscope is bound to occupy a relevant place in a good collection of scientific instrument from the early 20th century. Measurements: Width: 5.9 in/15 cm. Height: 13.3 in/34 cm.
