Beautiful antique microscope made in Wien in the early 20th century, in 1916. This is a scientific surveying device manufactured by C. Reichert that comes in its original wooden case. The microscope is in good condition and workingorder, and comes with some accessories and products for its manipulation. It mounts three-lens revolving nosepiece and black-enameled iron foot, with brass and chromed metal mobile parts. The brass keeps its original transparent finish and on the whole, the surfaces are in quite good condition. The inscription C. Reichert that we can see engraved in different parts of this article stands for Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Reichert, a microscope manufacturer born in Württemberg (Germany) in 1851 and dead in 1922. Reichert started his career working for various companies such as Siemens in Berlin. He travelled around and even collaborated with Leitz Wetzlar. In 1876 Reichert started his own business and produced a new type of microscope, a versatile and efficient model. He also invented the DIC system, also known as Nomansky Illumination. This particular microscope is a good simple of Reicherts instruments quality and functionality. As well as a practical device, it is a beautiful and elegant article. At the back of the foot we find the engraved inscription C. REICHERT WIEN with the serial number Nº 54833. The manufacturers name is also engraved in two lenses and at the front of the turret. As stated before, the microscope comes in a solid mahogany case with nice dovetail joints. The case preserves the original lock and key and contains a wooden stand to organize the lenses and eyepiece. There is also a wooden box with some accessories and a small bottle with concentrated cedar oil. Funcional y muy atractivo, este microscopio Reichert es un fantástico testimonio de la calidad de los instrumentos científicos de principios del siglo XX. Measurements: Width: 7 in/18 cm. Height: 14.7 in/36 cm.
