The instrument that appears in these images is a bulls eye light condensed used to focus light on subjects and samples to be viewed with antique microscopes. These devices were essentials in those times when microscope did not incorporate light system in their structures. It is made of brass and has a telescopic vertical rod that lets the user regulate its height. The rod stands on a circular base and its top is connected to a rod with a plane-convex lens at its end. In order to use the condenser, the lens must be orientated so it can catch the light beam and focus it towards the desired point. If the user wants to condense the light onto the microscope mirror, he or she will have to turn the lens so the convex side is kept towards the light source and the plane side towards the subject to be viewed. But if we want to condense the light and redirect it towards the subject, then we will have to turn the convex side towards it and the plane side towards the light source. Its good condition and attractive design turn this bulls eye condenser into a very interesting piece for any lover of scientific antiques. Measurements:
