Stunning and complete microscope made in Germany the first half of the 20th century (1938) by W. & H. Seibert. It is a very attractive instrument that comes in its original case. The microscope is in very good condition and works perfectly, letting the user watch samples clearly. It mounts a four-lens revolving nosepiece; three lenses are original from the time and the fourth is more modern, probably from the 40s or 50s, made of silvery metal. The four lenses are wonderfully preserved and work like new. The microscopes turret, screws and gears are made of golden brass and keep the original protecting lacquer. At the front of the turret we can see the engraved manufacturers name and the instruments serial number: W. & H. SEIBERT WETZLAR Nº 22074. The name corresponds to Wilhelm and Heinrich Seibert who founded an optic material company in Berlin in 1867. After some years the factory was moved to Wetzlar, a German city noted for its optical manufacturers. The Seibert brothers worked in collaboration with other manufacturers such as George Krafft, and in 1917 associated with powerful Ernst Leitz. After their heir Otto Seibert died, Leitz Wetlzar eventually took over the company. The brand name is also engraved at the top of the black-enameled iron foot. Inside the wooden case, as well as the microscope we can also find two wooden stands with some sleeves, designed to protect the eyepieces and lenses. The set also includes a wooden box with sliding lid where the material to prepare the samples is kept. The case is made of light wood and preserves the original lock and key in working order. Inside the door there is a paper sheet with data about the microscope and the lenses. Complete and beautiful, this microscope is an exclusive piece that will provide any good collection with quality and prestige. Measurements: Width: 6.2 in / 16 cm. Height: 13.7 in / 35 cm.
