Magnificent E. Leitz Wetlzar Microscope in very good working order. Germany, 1921

This singular device is a Leitz microscope, a real reference in the field of scientific and optic research material and in good condition and working order. The microscope mounts a three-lens revolving nosepiece and comes in its original solid wooden case. The article is in good condition: the bird-claw foot shows off a nice black-enameled finish that looks shiny and even, being very well preserved. The brass component parts that make up the top part of the microscope are also in good condition and keep the original transparent finish, showing only slight signs of the trace of time that provide the piece with authenticity. The microscopes turret, the top of the foot, the revolving nosepiece and the lenses bear the engraved manufacturers name: Ernst Leitz Wetlzar. In the turret we can also see the serial number 206485. The factory was founded by Carl Kellner in 1849 under the name of Optical Institute of Wetlzar. Twenty years later, former employee Ernst Leitz (who had become a partner of the firm) took control of the factory and changed its name by his. Under Leitzs orders the company became one of the most powerful optical manufacturers in the world. As well as magnificent microscope, they also produced the famous Leica cameras (abbreviation of Leitz Camera), noted for their quality and impeccable working order. All this microscopes component parts are original and work well. The wooden case is also the original one; it is bound to store and carry the instrument. The wood is solid and boasts a fine light golden color, with beautiful dovetail joints standing out in the outside corners. The metal handle, lock and key are also original and work fine. Inside the door there are two metal tabs that hold a paper sheet with hand-written information about the microscope in German.
