Beautiful French Cogit Microscope with Micrometric Adjustment System. Paris, Circa 1920

Impressive microscope made in France the first quarter of the 20th century (circa 1920), in excellent condition and working order. The instrument comes in its original solid wooden case and preserves all its component parts. The case also contains three metal sleeves for the lenses and two spare eyepieces (complementing the one mounted in the microscope), all of them in great condition. The microscope has a black enameled iron bird-claw foot, while the mobile component parts are made of golden brass and chromed metal. They are all very well preserved and the brass keeps its original transparent lacquered finish. This microscope mounts a micrometrical adjustment system attached to the sample plate. This device is designed to move the glass plates and adjust them to within a millimeter without touching them at all. It is an extremely interesting piece in perfect working order. The instruments turret bears the engraved manufacturers name and city of location: COGIT PARIS. We can read the same name at the top of the wooden case, printed in a label with the following inscription: INSTRUMENTS & APPAREILS POUR LES SCIENCES COGIT and the Parisian address where the business was located. Among the different features of interest that this instrument shows, as well as the micrometrical system we should also mention its three-lens revolving nosepiece. The lenses are in excellent condition. The case where the microscope is stored is made of solid oak wood it is beautiful and quite well preserved. We can see the original silvery metal handle, the shutting hooks and a nice and discreet metal keyhole. Inside the eyepieces and the sleeves for the lenses are stored in a wooden stand, a plank inserted into a piece lat the top of the case. This amazing microscope is a real museum piece because of its excellent condition and complete design. It will undoubtedly shine in any collection. Measurements: Width: 6.2 in / 16 cm.
