This great device is a micrometrical adjustment system made in England in the late 19th century (circa 1900). The instrument is in great condition and comes in its original case, highly beautiful and also very well preserved. It works perfectly: in order to use it, it has to be fixed to a microscopes sample plate. Once attached, the screws help the user move the plates in different directions and put them in the right place with pinpoint accuracy. This mechanism is ready to be used, being as functional as the first day. One of the brass pieces that make up the adjustment system bears the inscription HENRY CROUCH LONDON clearly engraved in the metal. The name of Henry Crouch corresponds to a prestigious microscope and accessory maker that lived and worked in London, England during the second half of the 20th century. The high quality of his instruments was shown in his stand at the Centennial Exposition, Philadelphia, USA in 1876, From then on, Crouchs microscopes and instruments started to be widely known in North America and his prestige grew exponentially. This amazing micrometrical adjustment system shows clearly the excellence of the instruments manufactured by Henry Crouchs firm. It is made of brass and silvery metal, with all its component parts in wonderful condition. The pieces move softly and accurately. The device is stored in its original case, a lovely box outside covered in black leather and inside lined with dark purple velvet. This lining is gorgeously preserved, being the perfect background to exhibit the instruments beauty in all its glory. With its outstanding quality and being more than one hundred years old, this micrometrical adjustment system is a piece worthy of a science museum.
