Amazing antique microscope made in Germany by the prestigious manufacturer E. Leitz Wetlzar, made in 1912 and in its original solid wooden case. The microscope is in wonderful condition and works perfectly, being as beautiful and functional as when it was originally made. It mounts a three-lens revolving nosepiece and its top part is composed of golden brass mobile parts, with black-enameled cast iron horseshoe foot. The case where this lab instrument can be stored is made of solid wood and preserves the original lock and key in working order. The base bears the manufacturers name and the microscopes serial number engraved in the metal: E. Leitz Wetzlar Nº 154019. This inscription corresponds to Ernst Leitz, a man who in 1869 took control of the Optical Institute of Wetlzar that Carl Kellner founded two decades before in the German city of the same name. Under Leitzs control the company grew rapidly thanks to the quality optical instruments and pieces they manufactured soon it became a world leader in its field. They also produced the famous Leica cameras (this brand name is an abbreviation of Leitz camera). The microscope that we can see in the photographs is a good example of the quality and reliability of Leitz products. The lenses are the original ones and are signed with the companys name, being all in excellent condition and working order. All the microscopes mobile parts, knobs and screws work fine and can be easily manipulated. The wooden storage case has nice dovetail joints in the corners and contains two wooden stands for the lenses and the eyepieces, as well as a box for filters, glass-plates and small pieces. The top edge of the door bears see the serial number engraved in the wood.
