Stunning golden brass binocular microscope in very good condition and with its original solid wooden case. This is a very special piece as it is designed to be used in dissections. The apparatus was manufactured in London, England by the prestigious firm R & J Beck. It was made in the early 20th century (1920) and remains very well preserved and in perfect working order. It comes with a complete set of accessories with four interchangeable lenses and two sets of eyepieces. At the top of the microscope one if the brass cylinders where the eyepieces are connected bears a logo with the manufacturing companys name. This monogram contains the inscription R & J BECK LTD. LONDON. The firm was founded in 1834 by Richard and Joseph Beck in association with the trader James Smith. In the beginning the company was called Smith, Beck & Beck, but after Smiths retirement it changed definitely its commercial name. The company was famous for their high-quality optic material, especially in the field of telescopes, microscopes and photo cameras. This awesome microscope stands out for its curious design, expressly designed to watch small animals used in dissections. The golden brass it is made of looks shiny and even, with no traces of rust. The set of lenses are also in good condition, and so are the eyepieces and the silvery-metal knobs and screws used to regulate the different parts of the microscope. As for the lovely original storing case, it is made of solid light-colored well-preserved mahogany wood. The corners show fine artisanal dovetail joints. The lock and the key are original too and remain in working order.
