This gorgeous antique microscope comes from England, where it was made in the late 19th century (circa 1880). The microscope works perfectly and preserves all its original component parts, and a complete accessory set too. Everything comes into the original mahogany wooden case, really beautiful and in wonderful condition. The microscope includes a mechanical sample stage in excellent working order. The microscope's base is black laquered and looks shiny and even and remains in quite good condition. Over the base stand the brass component parts, including the mechanical stage, the turret with the objective and the eyepiece, all moving smoothly. The microscope stands on a square-shaped mahogany plank with a shiny finish that matches the case. The brass is protected by the original transparent lacquer that shows a delicate patina, created by the trace of time and use. The microscope comes with a complete accessory set containing a bulls eye to concentrate the light, several eyepieces and lenses in their respective brass cases and a wooden box with ancient samples on glass plates. The mahogany wooden storing case is a lovely carpentry piece: the woods intrinsic beauty joins the quality making, with fine artisanal dovetail joints in the corners. The wood is protected by a warm satin finish. Last but not least, the case preserves the lock in working order: the key is not original, but it makes it possible to close and open the case. Every lover of stately microscope will find a real treasure in this English model, more than one hundred years old. Measurements: Width: 6.6 in / 17 cm. Height: 14.1 in / 36 cm.
