Ancient and rare travel microscope, made around 1900 by Schieck brand in Berlin. It is a curious and slim article, which shows great charm and a good condition. Also, it is perfectly operational. This microscope is a very special piece, because of its beauty and simplicity. It comes well protected in its original wooden box, which is also the base which supports the device and makes possible its use everywhere. Made in chromium-plated metal and glass, it is in good condition, showing only the logical wear signs due to years of use and age. This detail increase even more the beauty of this great antiquarian piece. As it has been mentioned, on the wooden cover there is a device thought to fix the microscope inserting its foot, and which lets us tilt and use the device with security. On the table of 20 x 10 cm aprox. there is a double glass plate, with scales on it, and it has also an iris diaphragm. All the pieces can be detached to be carefully kept into the different compartments of the wooden box. The box shows some signs of wear and use, like ink stains or scratches. Even though these details tell us about the life of the microscope, they can be easily repaired by a restorer. The microscope comes with a metal cylindrical box, which keeps inside a blue glass circular filter and a linen. On the cover of the box we can read the inscription. There is also a stamped inscription on the bottom of the wooden box, with the name and address of the manufacturer: F. W. SCHIEK Optisches Institut BERLIN SW 46. Another inscription calls our attention, this time stamped on the border of the box: 47076, probably the serial number. Overall, it is a real original piece and extremely beautiful, perfect to complete the collection of any lover of exclusive antiques. Microscope measurements (fixed on the box): 260 mm widht x 410 mm high.
