This beautiful microscope, standing in great condition and protected by its original timber box, was manufactured in 1897 by the prestigious Bausch & Lomb optical firm (New York). This fact is attested by the inscription that can be seen in the front of the microscope, and which reads: Bausch & Lomb Optical Co Rochester NY U.S.A. The unit also has its serial number: 144369, and it is accompanied by a complete and well preserved set of accessories. On the microscope itself are mounted three lenses, in which we read the following information: - Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Oil Inmersion 1/12 apert. 1.20 - Bausch & Lomb Opt. Co 16 mm 0.25 - Bausch & Lomb Opt. Co 4 mm 0.65 Under the specimen platform we can see two invertable pendulum mirrors (both in one body) and a height-adjustable lens with diaphragm control. The lens and diaphragm are located just above the mirrors. In addition, the platform also has two twin nickel-plated glass-slide clips. The original box comes with this beautiful microscope. Inside we find two removable wooden bodies in which are stored two extra eyepieces (plus another one placed in the microscope), and a blue glass filter. The box itself is very beautiful, being made of solid wood and fine dovetail joints. It retains a top handle for transport, and the elegant lock original key that operates the lock. The key, shaped like a clover, bears an inscription with the name of the Bausch & Lomb. Overall, this microscope is an attractive scientific age antiquity, as beautiful as functional. Microscope size: 385 mm height.
