Beautiful microscope made by the German brand Ernst Leitz Wetzlar, made in 1914. Its old age is as interesting as its nice execution, and we can also appreciate also its excellent condition. The microscope shows the serial number 171 259 engraved on the cylinder of the turret, and also on the border of the wooden box made to keep it safe. It is a beautiful scientific antique with a whole life behind, which makes of this microscope a real collectors piece and also an object with an interesting past. The body of the microscope (its U-shaped base, its arm and the place on which rests the table) is beautifully lacquered in black, with a shiny and polished finish in real good condition. The eyepiece, the turret and the screw are made of brass and nickel-plated metal, while the table is made of matt iron, and has two nickel plates to hold the specimens. The upper cylinder of the eyepiece shows a graduated scale, and as we said before, the turret has an engraved inscription with the name of the maker and the serial number. The wooden box, made to keep the device safe and to easily transport it, keeps its original lock as well as the upper handle, in white metal. We can see an inscription engraved on the upper side of the door: "Für Harnuntersuchung", which is the German way to say for urine analysis. This can make us think that the microscope probably belonged to some hospital. The box is in good condition and it has detachable wooden stands to keep the lenses and eyepieces in good order. It has also a wooden box with sliding cover keeping some accessories and cleansing material. With the microscope come also some extra lenses and eyepieces, the first ones into their brass cases. Overall, this beautiful microscope is a real find when talking about scientific antiques, suitable to complete the most interesting collection.
