Attractive and complete antique microscope in very good condition and perfect working order. The microscope was made by C. Reichert, a Viennese company which was founded by Carl Reichert in 1874, when he married into Leitz family, the owners of the famous Ernst Leitz Wetzlar brand. C. Reichert became a prestigious optical material brand during the 20th century, and in 1962 it was bought and turned into American Optical. This particular microscope is very beautiful and is in very good condition. It works perfectly and keeps all its original components.Severe and compact, this microscope is made of shiny brass with details of silvery metal, and the base and arm painted black. At the rear, the base has a third leg which supports a metal plate with an engraved inscription in black lettering: C. REICHERT WEIN, and the serial number of the instrument: Nº 46957. The name of the company is also engraved in the lenses of the revolving nosepiece, and in the eyepieces which rest in the removable wooden stand. All the pieces are very well preserved, and the microscope shows a neat and clear view of the samples. The box that houses the instruments and the accessories is very remarkable, as it is made of solid mahogany wood, of a beautiful golden reddish color. The box is made with dovetail joints, which provide it with strength and aesthetical attractive. At the top, the box has the original silvery metal handle, and the lock and the key are also original. Another remarkable detail is the serial number engraved in the wood, just in the upper edge of the door. Inside there is also a wooden small box with sliding cover where the sample glass plates rest. Overall, this microscope is a fine scientific piece with great vintage charm, as antique as elegant. Measurements: 150 mm width x 300 mm height.
