Complete German microscope from the beginning of the 20th century, made in 1910. It was made by W&H Seibert from Wetzlar, Germany. This company was founded by two brothers, Wilhelm and Heinrich Seibert, who started making microscopes in 1867. They worked for different makers such as Ernst Gundlach and Georg Krafft. In 1872 they bought Gundlachs shop in Berlin and in 1873 they moved to Wetzlar, where the company adopted W&H Seibert commercial name. In 1922 William Seibert, the companys chairman, was awarded a honorary degree by Darmstadt Technical University for his work supporting the development of German optical industry. This wonderful microscope is in perfect working order and also well preserved, in spite of being more than one hundred years old. It comes with some accessories for sample preparation: a wooden tray covered in red felt to hold some accessories such scissors, different thongs, a strainer, a glass test tube with a cork cap, some glass plates and other utensils. All of them are original from the time and are in good condition. The microscope keeps all its original parts and components in perfect working order. At the top, in front of the turret, there is a small golden metal plate with this inscription: W&H SEIBERT WETZLAR, the name and city of the brand. In the turret we can find that inscription again, and under it rests the serial number: Nº 29627. There is one more inscription in the turret, this time vertically engraved, which says: Anat. Inst. Münster 57. This means that this microscope belonged to the Anatomy Institute of the University of Münster. This wonderful vintage scientific article will undoubtedly become the star piece of the most prestigious collection. Measurements: 160 mm width x 350 mm height.
