Fine antique pocket or field microscope made of golden brass and with all its original component parts and accessories. The microscope comes in its original mahogany wooden case, which at the same time acts as a working table or support. This instrument is more than one hundred years old as it is dated circa 1850. It remains in excellent condition and can still be used to watch samples and specimens. These instruments were usually carried in scientific expeditions or field works and were mainly used by entomologists and botanists to watch specimens in situ. The microscope is fully made of golden brass. The metal preserves the original transparent protecting lacquer and remains well preserved. It is made of a fine solid mahogany wood. The cover bears an embedded screwed brass piece where the microscope can be connected in order to keep it level and stable. The wood is really well preserved and keeps the original finish, a lovely satin transparent varnish. The brass hinges and locks are also original and remain in perfect working order.
