Fine antique drum microscope in striking condition, signed by the maker and in its original wooden case. The microscope comes from Berlin and is dated in the late 19th century (circa 1880). It bears the manufacturers name (Bénèsche & Wasferlein Berlin) engraved by hand in an elegant cursive lettering. This antique instrument is wonderfully preserved and is in perfect working order: today it can still be used to watch samples. All its component parts and pieces are original. The microscopy is entirely made of golden brass. The metal looks shiny, even and with no traces of rust at all, preserving the lovely antique lacquered finish that protects its surface. The kit includes two eyepieces and three lenses, as well as some additional accessories for the right use of the device. The adjustment screws move fluidly and make possible a good operation. The mahogany wooden case for storing this fine instrument is in really good condition too. Inside it is divided in compartments so the microscope and the rest of the pieces can be properly organized. The separations are also made of mahogany wood and so is the delicate lid of the compartment for the accessories. The wood preserves the original transparent finish, both inside and outside the case. The outside scarcely shows any effects of time, having remained in great condition in spite of the many years passed since the microscope was manufactured.
