Fine antique bulls eye lens, a type of magnifier used with antique microscope in good condition and with a fine look. This piece is dated between the late 19th century and the early 20th century (circa 1900) and has survived to our days in really good condition. The whole item is made of brass except for the top magnifying glass, of course. The metal is very well preserved and keeps the original transparent lacquer. The foot is composed of a circular brass piece with a telescopic vertical stem on top. At the top of the stem there is a mobile component part that holds the magnifiers stem; this simple system makes it possible to move the glass and put it in the right position. At the other end we can see the convex glass, in good condition too. Bulls eye lenses were used to increase natural light and focus it to the microscopes sample plates in times when these instruments did not include electrical light systems. Evocative and simple, this antique bulls eye lens is the best accessory for a turn-of-the-century microscope. Measurements: Height: 7.87 in / 20 cm.
