Gorgeous compound microscope dated in the late 19th century (circa 1880), in amazing condition and very good working order. This instrument is original from the time and comes in its mahogany wooden case, together with an accessory set also greatly preserved. The microscope stands on two black iron legs, each one divided in two inclined sections. The legs stand on a square-shaped mahogany wooden piece that provides the device with stability. The rest of the microscope is made entirely of brass: the metal remains in striking condition, with the original transparent lacquer and no visible signs of rust or wear. The instrument mounts a mechanical stage with micrometric adjustment system, designed to move the plates without touching them with the fingers. Both the sample plate and the turrets rack are in great working order. The microscopes mobile component parts show a fluid and soft operation that enable a pleasant use. It also mounts a two-lens revolving nosepiece and comes with an accessory set including two lenses, two eyepieces, a live box (a brass-and-glass capsule used to watch live specimens) and a double-sided mirror (flat/concave). The lenses come with their original brass sleeves, perfect to keep them in perfect condition. Both the microscope and its accessories can be stored and preserved in their original antique case. It is a fine solid-mahogany wooden box with different compartments for all the pieces. The case keeps the original leather handle and the lock, in perfect working order and with its key. Every lover of old-time scientific instruments will surely admire this gorgeous antique compound microscope, as beautiful as functional.Measurements: Height (Medium Position): 15.35 in / 39 cm.
