Sober antique microscope in its original storing case, signed by G. Zulauf & Co. Zurich and made in Germany in 1880. This is quite a rare and attractive model, in working order and with a stylish design. The microscope comes with two extra lenses apart from the one mounted in the turret. Two of them are functional and make it possible to use the instrument to watch samples. The lenses and the microscope bear the manufacturers name engraved in the surface. In the microscope, the engraving is located at the back of the horseshoe-shaped foot. The double-sided mirror and the sample stage are made of black-painted cast iron; the rest of the component parts and pieces are made of brass. They are in good condition though they show some slight signs of the trace of time and the use. The ancient transparent lacquered finish still protects the metal surface and provides it with a charming patina. The storing case is a sturdy solid-oak wooden box, in very good condition and with fine artisanal dovetail joints. Inside, a small box covered by black leatherette contains the lenses. Its rareness and good working order turn this antique German G. Zulauf & Co. microscope into a fascinating item, as beautiful as original. Measurements: Width: 3.2 in / 8 cm. Height: 11.6 in / 29 cm.
