Antique student microscope with storing case made circa 1880 and in fine condition. The microscope is complete and preserves the original lenses and knobs. It is a really old item that though being more than 120 years old has survived to our days in good condition and working order. The microscope boasts a simple and functional design, composed of a circular brass base with an inclined cylindrical piece attached to it. Connected to this piece we can see the turret and the stage with the clips. The turret mounts a mobile magnifying glass to concentrate the light and focus it on the sample to be watched. All the brass component parts preserve the original protecting lacquered finish. The metal is well preserved and shows the lovely patina created by the trace of time. The storing case is a solid-mahogany wooden case, in fine condition too and with the original shutting hooks. Inside it mounts a series of wooden pieces which keep the microscope stable when carried. This antique student microscope with storing case is an entirely original device, full of charm and personality. Measurements: Width: 2.8 in / 7 cm. Height: 8.4 in / 21 cm.
