Superb antique Waldemar Strauss microscope made in Berlin, Germany circa 1910. This gorgeous scientific-surveying instrument has survived to our days in very good condition. Of all its original component parts and pieces there is only one missing, one of the stage clips, but this is quite an irrelevant feature that does not interfere in the use of the device. The microscope is stored in its original solid wooden box, with a lovely light-golden color and the lock and key set in perfect working order. Inside the box we find a set of three eyepieces and three lenses, together with a paper sheet with the factory specifications: serial number, manufacturers stamp and description of the accessories. The microscope mounts a three-lens revolving nosepiece in really good condition, a well-preserved rack-and-pinion system and a fine adjustment system in great working order. The only element which is not functional is the shutter located under the stage; nevertheless, this part is not essential when using the microscope to watch samples. The microscopes foot is made of black-enameled metal. It boasts a shiny and profound finish, really beautiful to the eye. It mounts a brass screw that makes it possible to incline the turret and the eyepiece downwards and put the eyepiece in front of the eye, in order to watch samples with the microscope in horizontal position. The top of the instrument is made of the mobile component parts and optic elements, all of them made of brass. The metal preserves the ancient transparent finish that provides it with a warm good-looking, consistent with the devices ancient age. At the turret we can see the engraved manufacturers name and address, Waldemar Strauss Berlin S.W. 68, together with the same serial number which was handwritten in the specification sheet: Nº 3068. This superb antique Waldemar Strauss microscope is a real collectors item with all the charm and beauty of turn-of-the-century scientific devices. Dimensions: Width: 6.4 in / 16 cm. Height: 14.4 in / 36 cm.
