Large antique English binocular microscope, made in England circa 1870 and with storing case and accessories. It is entirely made of brass and remains in quite good condition. The microscope is in working order, though some of its component parts show signs of the trace of time. The rack-and-pinion systems of the eyepieces and the turret are in perfect condition, just like the mechanical sample plate. These three parts move fluidly and softly. The shutter is blocked and the binocular prism is detached, so the microscope can only be used in the monocular option. The lenses are dirty, so the vision is not very good and would need cleaning or polishing. The accessory set includes a bulls eye magnifying glass without the lens, the foot and the stem being preserved. We can also find three brass sleeves, two of them containing objectives (one is a very rare piece). The third sleeve contains a prism marked NICOL PRISM. The microscope comes in its original storing case, made of solid mahogany wood and with the ancient French-polish finish. It is in great condition. Overall, this is a really spectacular microscope for its big size and special features and with a very interesting price. This big antique English binocular microscope will stand out in any study, collection or room for its impressive design and fine condition. Dimensions: Width: 6.7 in / 17 cm. Height: 17.3 in / 44 cm.
