Striking antique Scottish James Brown microscope made in Glasgow circa 1800, in superb condition and with original storing case. This gorgeous device has a black metal horseshoe foot and brass mobile parts with the original transparent polish. All the pieces and component parts are in fine condition and make it possible to use the microscope to watch samples. The rack-and-pinion system is greatly preserved and moves fluidly, just like the focus screws. At the turret we can see a fine hand-engraved inscription with the manufacturers name and address: James Brown 76 St. Vincent St. Glasgow. The double-sided mirror located under the sample plate has a small crack, but still fulfills perfectly its duty. The microscope comes with a set of 2 lenses, 2 eyepieces and 3 dimmers, all of them perfectly organized in the cases compartments and drawers. The case itself is made of solid mahogany wood and remains in wonderful condition too. Any self-respecting collector will appreciate the charisma of this striking antique Scottish James Brown microscope, a real museum piece. Dimensions: Width: 5.1 in / 13 cm. Height: 16.6 in / 32 cm.
