Antique Reichert microscope with rare custom-made accessory, made in Germany circa 1920 and with a great interest for collectors. This fascinating design includes an enameled-metal piece made exclusively for this device. The piece is composed of two lamps which light the samples from the top, one at each side. The lamps can be attached to the back of the microscope by a metal C-shaped piece. The wiring used to connect to a battery through a small plug which can be seen at one of the sides. Today the battery is missing; the rest of the mechanism is in fine condition though it has not been tested. Apart from this accessory, the microscope works really fine and can be perfectly used to watch samples in detail. It mounts a three-lens revolving nosepiece (the lenses being signed by Reichert) and two eyepieces. The black-enameled finish and the brass component parts are in amazing condition, making up a beautiful and functional design. At the foot we can see the engraved brand name and serial number 65156; the turret also bears the engraved manufacturers name, REICHERT WIEN. The mahogany wooden case is the original one and has been adapted inside to store the light accessory and probably the battery too. Any lover of scientific instruments will appreciate the value and attractive look of this antique Reichert microscope with rare custom-made accessory. Dimensions: Width: 6.3 in / 16 cm.
