Antique Fitchner Portable or Student Microscope. Germany, Circa 1900

Antique Fitchner portable or student microscope made in Germany circa 1900 and in good condition. This microscope, small in size and easy to carry, was bound to be used in fieldwork or by students as it was less complex and more economic than standard models. It is in fine working order and can still be used to watch samples. It comes with two objectives and two eyepieces, all of them well preserved and original from the time. The microscope is made of brass and black-painted metal; all its component parts and pieces are original and move softly. The storing case is made of solid mahogany wood and has inner fixed parts which hold the instrument and the accessories in place, making their transport safer and easier. Inside the case we can see the name H. FITCHNER stamped in blue ink in the lid and the box, and also at the remains of the outer sticker.
