Very rare antique Constant Verick model 6 made in France in 1880 and in fine condition. This is a very special item which includes an extremely rare two-lens revolving nosepiece by Verick. The microscope is in working order and comes in its mahogany storing case, which contains a set of 5 objectives (3 of them complete), 2 eyepieces, tools and material to prepare samples. The microscope is entirely made of brass, with some of the pieces bearing a black finish. It stands on a circular base with a hand-engraved inscription: C. Verick èlève spécial du E. Hartnack, rue de la Parcheminerie, 2, Paris. This motto was occasionaly used by Verick together with his signature, and stands for special pupil of E. Hartnack, the famous optician. On the circular base there are two cylindrical pillars which support the rest of the pieces. The microscope preserves the rare revolving nosepiece, the shutter and the original double-sided mirror in good condition. The storing case is also greatly preserved: the mahogany wood stands out for its deep reddish color. Inside we find different wooden pieces which keep the microscope in its place and organize the rest of the equipment: the lens case (covered in green leatherette outside and in white satin inside), the two eyepieces and the small drawer for the tools. This very rare antique Constant Verick microscope is an exclusive item, worthy to belong to a collector with a true passion for scientific old-time instruments. Dimensions: Width: 4.13 in / 10.5 cm. Height: 11 in / 28 cm.Constant Verick History Constant Verick owned a microscopy company between 1870 and 1882-83. He started his carreer working for Edmund Hartnack, a prestigious microscopy and optic material maker from Paris. He was part of the company until 1866, when he left the business to start his own firm. Later, he would use the motto special pupil o E. Hartnack with his signature. Actually, is not probable that Verick was a pupil of Hartnack as the latter was only 3 years older than him. He probably learned under George Oberhausers mentorship, Hartnacks predecessor. In 1870 Verick started a partnership with Adamp Prazmowski, who ran a business called Hartnack et Cie. In 1873 they changed the companys name to Hartnack et Prazmowski, and in 1878 Verick left the business to start his own company. In 1882-83, his firm it was acquired by Maurice Stiassnie.
