Striking antique English microscope made of golden brass in 1860. This instrument is attached to a solid wooden base and comes in its original protecting case. It is a collectors piece because of its ancient age, elegant design and excellent condition. The microscope keeps all its components, all of them well preserved, and the transparent lacquer that protects the metal is also the original one. The item comes with twenty four samples from the time when it was made and with a piece probably designed to condense the light in order to best watch the samples. This piece comes with a slim brass adjustable stand.The microscope bears the manufacturers signatured engraved at the base. The inscription shows these words: BAKER 244 High Holborn LONDON. The focusing mechanisms accuracy and simple design are highly remarkably: the two bigger wheels help the user to graduate the general focus, while the smaller one (located at the back of the turret) is for accurate tuning. This instrument also keeps the mirror located under the sample plate, which is also in optimal condition.The microscope and accessories can be stored into their original case, made of solid light-colored mahogany wood. The base where the microscope stands on is also made of this noble material. As well as storing the microscope, the case also contains a wooden box with the glass sample plates, a brass cylindrical sleeve and the mentioned item to concentrate the light with its corresponding disassembled stand.This wonderful microscopes ancient age and nice design turn it into a real collectors item that will surely delight any lover of antique surveying instruments.Measurements: Width: 200 mm.
