German E. Leitz Wetzlar Microscope, 1920. Original Case and Perfect Functioning

Beautiful German microscope made in the early 20th century (1920) by prestigious optic manufacturer E. Leitz Wetlzar. The undeniable beauty of this instrument is enhanced by the fact that it comes in its original wooden case preserving the lock and the key. The microscope is in great condition and boasts the original black enamel finish, with a sober combination of brass and silvery metal mobile parts. The instrument comes with several accessories: objectives, eye-pieces, a box with glass sample plates and a glass scale. This microscope works perfectly, just as well as when it was originally made.The company that made this nice instrument in the 1920s, E. Leitz Wetzlar, is one of the most prestigious optic material manufacturers in the world. In the beginning the companys name was Optical Institute of Wetlzar (this is the name of the German city where the factory was established) and was founded in 1849. In 1865 Ernst Leitz, a German engineer, entered the team and in only four years became the companys owner and changed its name by its own.This is a monocular microscope with a triple revolving nosepiece. It polished brass turret bears an engraved inscription with the brands name, E. LEITZ WETZLAR, and the serial number: Nº 186294, matching with the box serial number. Its screws and mobile parts are in good condition and can be operated fluidly. The wooden case boasts delicate dovetail joints and contains stands to store the accessories. Inside the door, two metal plates support a label with some data such as the manufacturing date, the serial number and the objectives characteristics.
