Availability date:
Antique and rare epaulettes for officer of the republican navy, made in Spain between 1933 and 1939. This is quite a rare item as these epaulettes were used by the army for a very brief lapse of time. The one which we can see in the images are well preserved and come in their original storing case. They are made of golden-yellow embroidered silk; each one has two metal anchor-shaped branch insignias with a mural crown on top. Both preserve the original fringe complete and in good condition. The bottom part is made of black velvet and bears the printed shield and name of the maker in golden lettering: MEDINA, BORDADOR DE LA REAL CASA (MEDINA, EMBROIDERER OF THE ROYAL HOUSE). This name can also be seen in embossed letters in the golden-metal clip which attaches the epaulette to the uniforms shoulder. The storing case is made of light-colored solid mahogany wood. It has a foldable front side which makes it possible to display the epaulettes as an exhibition piece. Rare, authentic and with a history behind, these antique epaulettes for an officer of the Spanish republican navy deserve to become part of the collection of a military museum.
