Superb antique German firefighters helmet, of Nassau City, in very good condition, made in the late 19th century and complete. Though being more than one hundred years old, the helmet preserves all its original component parts. It is entirely covered of black leather; the covering is nearly flawless, with no torn or deteriorated parts except for some slightly worn points at the chinstrap (scarcely relevant). The helmet also preserves the interior, made of brown leather and metal curved rods. The interior is also very well preserved, especially considering it is more than one century old. At the front side of the helmet we can see the Nassau firefighters corps coat of arms, with a rampant lion to the left and a group of arms (a pick and an axe behind a helmet) to the right. This detail is made of silvery metal and bears an embossed inscription with the year 1872. The coat of arms is flanked by oak leaves and acorns, also made of metal. The helmet bears two side golden medallions, one at each side of the chinstrap. This preserves the original buckle too. This antique German firefighters helmet made at the late 19th century will shine in any self-respected collection of old-time pieces.
