This lovely music box dates from the early 20th century (circa 1900) and has survived to our days in very good condition and excellent working order. Made in Switzerland, the attractive combination of woods the box is made of is really attention-drawing. Most of the piece is made of brownish blur wood, with the typical random shades and points that usually adorn this specie. On the other hand, the boxs rounded corners and the lids frame are made of solid rosewood, with a wonderful dark red tone and deep black veneer. The box reproduced four tunes with a neat and clear sound. The first melody is played twice; the following two can be hear one time each, and the last is played three times. If we lift the lid, closing the box but letting us see the mechanism we will find a transparent glass panel; under it we can see the comb with all its teeth and the cylinder that, when rotating, plays the different tunes. The key designed to wind up the mechanism is located at the boxs base, as usual. All the parts and components are original and in very good condition.Inside the boxs lid there is a big paper stack to the wood, printed with a blue heading and decorative fringe. The heading indicates the companys name: GOLDEN LYRE HOUSE GENEVA SWITZERLAND, together with a golden harp-shaped logo, the location (Swiss Alps) and the manufacturers data: Musical Boxes B. A. BRÉMOND. In the center of the paper, the titles of the four melodies that can be heard when opening the box are written by hand in an elegant vintage calligraphy. Its style, elegance and ancient age turn this fine music box into a very special article, bound to belong to a good collector of exclusive pieces.Measurements: Width: 130 mm.
